Welcome to Armory Automotive

Ninety three years and counting.  The year 2010 marked another milestone for the Armory Automotive Family, a dealership with a success story few can match inside or outside New York's Capital District.  As three generations of the Armory Automotive team have led a family of dedicated employees to enhance the buying experience of its family of customers.  Here is a timeline of the history of Armory.

1918: Anthony Metzner opens a business on Sherman Street. Metzner's property was close to the Washington Ave Armory so he named his company "Armory Garage".
1928: Anthony Metzner moved Armory Garage to Central & Colvin.
1931: Armory became a Chrysler dealer selling Plymouths and Desotos.
Mid 1930's:
James A. Clark Sr. joined Metzner to form an Armory dual family management team that continues today!  After World War II Metzner's sons, Stanley and Robert join the business.
1985: Third generation family member Donald Metzner joins the business and Joe Kramer becomes Vice President.
1990: Armory acquires Nissan.
1993: James A. Clark Jr. daughter Betsy joins the Armory family.
1996: Armory Vision sign built with HDTV quality images.
2011: Armory awarded FIAT.
Today and beyond:  A quote from Donald Metzner, "Everyday we talk about what we can do that's new...what we can do even better.  This all began with a dream...and we're never going to stop dreaming...and doing!"
